Proposed Bills

11/19/2008: Public Hearing Scheduled for Environment Bills. Bill 080025 requiring LEED certification for certain publicly funded building projects and Bill 080758 on energy conservation and the regulation of air conditioning and cooling systems in certain buildings are scheduled for a hearing by the Committee on the Environment, Wednesday, November 19 at 10 AM, Room 400, City Hall.

4/3/2008: Kenney introduces bill that requires recycling of construction materials. Amending Chapter 10-700 of the Philadelphia Code entitled “Refuse and Littering” to require the recycling of construction and demolition debris.

Hearings

4/30/2008: The Committee on the Environment will hold a hearing on April 30th at 2pm on an ordinance that would require that any construction, extension or major renovation of certain buildings paid for with public funds meet LEED green building standards








Recent News

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) released a new report, Building Green: Overcoming Barriers in Philadelphia, that identifies obstacles to green building in Philadelphia and recommends solutions to resolving those barriers. The report received support from Mayor Nutter, who spoke at the report's release event, as well as from private developers, labor representatives and environmentalists.
